Micro-credential overview
Injection moulding is a common form of plastic parts manufacturing, being reliable, fast, accurate, detailed and suited for mass, repeated production. It is a simple, automated process with operators interacting with the injection moulding machine through, start-up, shut-down, component quality assurance, and minor machinery troubleshooting. This micro-credential will focus on upskilling new and existing operators of injection moulding machines to operate them safely and efficiently.
Upon completion of this micro-credential, learners will be able to:
- understand how to read standard operating procedures (SOPs) and data sheets for injection moulding machines
- know how to start up and shut down an injection moulding machine in accordance with SOPs
- Understand the temperatures, pressures and durations to use for common injection moulding applications
- perform quality compliance checks on goods produced by an injection moulding machine
- understand how to perform maintenance checks on an injection moulding machine during production for a specified production period
- understand when an issue arises with an injection moulding machine, and how to appropriately escalate.
