Hitting milestone after milestone in 2024

First Building construction complete

We are pleased to announce the completion of the First Building at Bradfield City Centre, which houses Stage 1 of the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF).

Situated in Western Sydney, a key hub for manufacturing, the AMRF is designed to provide world-class support to businesses, enabling them to scale rapidly, mitigate risks, and enhance their global competitiveness.

The AMRF is a cornerstone of Bradfield City Centre's economic development strategy. By bolstering the manufacturing sector, it aims to create numerous high-value jobs and leverage the $20 billion in government infrastructure invested in the Aerotropolis.

Sustainability is a core principle of the First Building's design.

It incorporates extensive natural materials and features a cooling green roof to mitigate solar thermal heating.

The building has been designed with Country, inspired by the natural waterways and the Cumberland Plains, reflecting a deep connection with the local environment.

One of the building's highlights is the rooftop viewing platform, offering a unique perspective on the ongoing construction of the new city and the nearby Bradfield Metro station.

We are now in the process of commissioning the building and installing advanced manufacturing equipment, with the facility set to open in early 2025.

Superlot 1 progresses into 2025

A development partner for the first Superlot land release at Bradfield City Centre will be appointed in early 2025.

Set across 4.8 hectares, Superlot 1 includes over 200,000m² of gross floor area development potential, with provision for new homes, as well as commercial childcare, hotel, retail, medical spaces and public domain.

This partnership will set the benchmark for development in Australia’s newest city.

Digital Infrastructure for Bradfield City

A robust EOI for Bradfield City Centre’s Digital Infrastructure will see the imminent announcement in 2025 of our private sector partner to deliver the vital digital infrastructure to service mixed-use development, provide high quality digital services, and create a world-class public domain.

Civils making inroads

It was full steam ahead at Bradfield in September with enabling works for roads, services and other amenities supporting future development in the city getting underway.

Sixty Olympic swimming pools' worth of material (over 150 thousand cubic metres) will be cut and filled to deliver Bradfield City Centre's enabling works for roads, services and other amenities.

Enabling works are due for completion in 2025.

The BDA’s Board has now approved a sequencing plan to guide the release of Bradfield precincts over the next three years. With the first Superlot land release also progressing to offer commercial, housing and retail amenity, Bradfield is well on its way to becoming a thriving new city that will grow alongside the Western Sydney International Airport and Aerotropolis.

Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility Showcase and First Project announcement

This month, over 100 guests from across the manufacturing sector gathered at Bradfield Development Authority HQ in Penrith for our end-of-year AMRF Showcase 2024 event.

Highlights included a panel discussion on the AMRF's First Project with Marley Flow Control, equipment demonstrations, and a showcase of the latest offering including scale up hub AMRF Connect, powered by Western Sydney University's Launch Pad, and Australia's national science agency, the CSIRO.

Attendees were also given a first look at the AMRF's new brand, website, and social channels.

Western Sydney engineering company Marley Flow Control is the first to complete a project with the AMRF. Our team undertook a time study project to identify operational efficiencies that could boost the company’s productivity by up to six times and reduce production costs by an estimated 15%-20%.

Building on this success, Marley Flow Control is now collaborating with the AMRF to further enhance production efficiencies.

AMRF Connect takes off

Manufacturing businesses across NSW are set to thrive, with the September announcement of Western Sydney’s newest scale up hub, AMRF Connect.

Part of the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) located in the First Building at Bradfield City Centre, AMRF Connect will help accelerate the growth and competitiveness of the manufacturing sector.

Powered by Western Sydney University's Launch Pad, and Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO, the hub will leverage extensive local, national, and international networks to connect manufacturers with investors, research organisations, and other businesses.

AMRF Connect will offer collaborative workspace at the First Building and a comprehensive program of targeted masterclasses, networking events, and experts in residence.

With domestic manufacturing capability firmly on the national agenda, AMRF Connect is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to boosting the NSW manufacturing industry and supporting growth of the already substantial expertise local businesses have to offer.

Boomtown! Project of the Year Awards Dinner and Property and Infrastructure Summit

Bradfield's First Building was honoured with the Outstanding Innovation Project award at the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue's Boomtown! Gala Dinner and Project of the Year 2024 awards recently.

BDA CEO Ken Morrison and Ali Habibi from Northrop Consulting Engineers proudly accepted the award.

The following day saw an impressive lineup of speakers for the Boomtown! Property and Infrastructure Summit.

BDA Chair, Jennifer Westacott AO, introduced to the stage and gave a vote of thanks to Australian Government Minister for Housing, Hon Clare O’Neil MP.

Additionally, BDA CEO, Ken Morrison, engaged in a panel discussion alongside industry leaders, where they explored the transformative developments occurring in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and the emerging Bradfield City Centre.

Property Council of Australia industry event

In August, BDA CEO Ken Morrison joined Infrastructure NSW CEO Tom Gellibrand at a Property Council Australia event to update industry members on the vision and momentum in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

Ken spoke about the enormous opportunity of the Aerotropolis and the key role Bradfield City Centre will play in leveraging the more than $20 billion of infrastructure investment in the region, with strong progress already underway.

A follow-up panel session hosted by Amy Menere took thoughtful audience questions from Ken, Tom and Transport for NSW's Justine Kinch, showing the strong interest in this booming region.

ASEAN Market Update event

In October we hosted over 50 businesses from the Western Sydney region to hear from NSW Minister for Industry and Trade the Hon. Anoulack Chanthivong MP, Asialink Business and Investment NSW on the support available from NSW Government to access export opportunities in the dynamic ASEAN region.

This was a great opportunity to also showcase the role Bradfield City Centre and the Aerotropolis will play in driving new economic growth in the region.

Semiconductor Australia conference

In October, Bradfield Development Authority was a proud sponsor of the inaugural 2024 Semiconductor Australia Conference!

CEO Ken Morrison joined a feature panel exploring how investment and policy can be shaped to drive growth, highlighting how Stage 2 of the AMRF at Bradfield will be an innovation accelerator for Australia’s semiconductor advanced packaging sector.

AMRF Executive Director Ben Kitcher hosted an interactive Q&A, tackling topics such enabling edge AI with persistent memory, short wavelength laser enabled by GaN, graphene interconnects, and biochip and quantum applications.

Congratulations to BluGlass Limited and Semiconductor Sector Service Bureau (S3B) on a great event showcasing the scale of the semiconductor opportunity in Australia.

This month we’re calling for self-sufficient mobile food and beverage operators.

We're seeking Registrations of Interest for a mobile food and beverage operator to provide daily deliciousness to First Building tenants, visitors and construction workers engaged on other projects within Bradfield.

Charter of the Bradfield Development Authority 2024-2027

This year we received a new name, a sharper vision and a new Charter.

The new Bradfield Development Authority Corporate Charter, has been prepared by the BDA Board, endorsed by the Secretary of the Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI), and approved by the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces.
