It's been a busy few months at the Bradfield Development Authority.

We've achieved significant milestones across our programs and released exciting opportunities to the market.

With a new name and clear mission, the Authority is in a strong position as we continue to bring Bradfield City Centre to life.

Bradfield City Centre Master Plan approved

In September, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully announced the approval of the Bradfield City Centre Master Plan, providing certainty for investors and building on the significant momentum already underway in the Aerotropolis.

The Master Plan outlines how the city will grow over time, laying the foundations for 10,000 homes, 20,000 jobs, investment opportunities and industry growth, and more than 36 hectares of green open space to be enjoyed by residents, workers and visitors.

It will guide the development of Bradfield City Centre to become a thriving 24/7 ecosystem of culture, creativity, and innovation for years to come.

First Building nearing completion

Bradfield City Centre’s First Building is in the final stages of construction, rapidly approaching completion.

The First Building – housing industry tenants and Stage 1 of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF) – is the start of a new industry-led ecosystem to connect and attract local and global industry partners, and nurturing a workforce skilled for the future.

First land release progressing

Following an earlier expression of interest process, a shortlist of leading developers have now been invited to progress their proposals to develop Superlot 1.

Set across 4.8 hectares, Superlot 1 will provide 1,000 new homes, as well as commercial, education, research, hotel, retail, and hospitality facilities.

Located a short walk from the future Bradfield Metro Station and Central Park, people living and working in Superlot 1 will have transport options available to them from day one.

Advanced industry hub to boost NSW manufacturing

AMRF Connect is Western Sydney's newest collaborative scale up hub for manufacturers, acting as a critical connection point between AMRF and the broader advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Powered by Western Sydney University’s Launch Pad and CSIRO, AMRF Connect will offer collaborative workspace and a comprehensive program of targeted masterclasses, networking events, and experts in residence.

Located in First Building at Bradfield City Centre, manufacturers will benefit from access to the AMRF and extensive local, national, and international networks to connect with investors, research organisations and other businesses.

Opportunity to lay Bradfield City Centre’s digital foundations open

Bradfield City Centre’s digital future is one step closer to reality, with the digital infrastructure that will connect the new high-tech city to a digitally enabled future under procurement.

We are looking for leading technology providers to enable Bradfield City Centre with the high-performing, adaptable, competitive digital services that people can rely on for generations to come.

Don’t miss out - the Digital Infrastructure RFP closes Tuesday, 22 October 2024.

Civils making inroads

Development at Bradfield City Centre continues to forge ahead, with civil enabling works progressing on site. Covering approximately 38 hectares of land, the works will deliver new master planned roads, streetscapes, and services for almost 35 per cent of the new city by mid-2025, supporting development of future Superlot land releases.

The works are being delivered by local civil business Western Earth Moving (WEM Civil), highlighting the economic benefits an urban development project of this size can bring to the region from day one.

Tim Hutchison

As you can see, developments forging ahead at Bradfield City Centre with the civil enabling works underway.

Craig Hardy

So we're in the middle of our bulk earthwork stage at the moment - so we're doing cut to fill, finishing off stripping, forming up basins and starting to build roads. We'll move over 150,000 cubic metres of earth over here on this project. We've been placing over 20,000 ton of sandstone. We're installing water reuse rain gardens to capture storm water runoff and reuse that for irrigation and landscaping.

Tim Hutchison

In-ground services are going in at the moment with sewer and storm water getting laid. We'll follow with portable water, electrical, and telecommunications. These services will allow development of future superlot land releases.

Tony Laba

I'm proud to be a part of building the first city in 100 years Bradfield City. It's close to my community and yeah it looks like we're just moving dirt, but we're really we're building a future for families.

Tim Hutchison

An urban development project of this size brings economic benefits to the Western Sydney Region from day one.

World class design for Bradfield City Centre's Central Park

Residents and visitors to Bradfield City Centre will enjoy world-class open space, with the design for the 2-hectare Central Park unveiled in July.

The design showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Dharug people and celebrates Sky Country. As the first design competition in NSW to integrate Designing with Country as a core requirement, Central Park will set a benchmark for future public open spaces in NSW.

Central Park is part of more than 36 hectares of stunning open space planned for Bradfield City Centre, set to open alongside the Bradfield Metro Station.

Central Park features:

Second Building driving innovation

The blueprint for Western Sydney’s industry growth has been unveiled, with the design for the Second Building released earlier this year.

Spanning three levels and over 12,000 square metres, Second Building will house industry tenants and Stage 2 of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility, providing access to some of the most advanced manufacturing technologies in the world to test, scale up and commercialise new manufacturing methods in Western Sydney.

With a focus on micro-electronics and semi-conductor packaging, it will also be home to Australia’s most advanced manufacturing technology and expert technicians, acting as a catalyst of growth for emerging NSW industries.

Setting a sustainable benchmark for Australia's newest city

We've outlined ambitious commitments to sustainability and resilience, guiding how we will reach our vision of building a stronger future for Western Sydney as we deliver Bradfield City Centre and attract investment to the region.

New Cities Minister visits Bradfield

In August, new Federal Cities Minister Jenny McAllister visited Bradfield City Centre to see the exciting progress underway.

Bradfield is an outcome of the Western Sydney City Deal, a strategic partnership between local, state and federal Government to leverage the investment and opportunities from Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport to drive economic growth in the region.

It was great to highlight the momentum underway, with the impressive First Building nearing completion and our civils program laying the foundations for private development.

Industry roundtable series

Over the past several months, the Authority has commenced a new roundtable series bringing together industry experts to consider opportunities in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

The first roundtable saw companies with an interest in the Freight & Logistics sector come together with the Authority and Transport NSW to discuss industry formation and job creation, with a focus on the Aerotropolis Northern Gateway precinct.

Aerospace & Defence was the theme of the second roundtable, with BDA Board member and former Australian Defence Force Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin AC hosting a diverse group of stakeholders from the Department of Defence, leading defence contractors, universities, industry and research organisations and local industry SMEs. The event showcased the strong capabilities of Western Sydney’s industrial sector and its suitability for meeting the evolving needs of national defence.

Future roundtables will continue these discussions, as well as exploring opportunities in other key industries such as construction, visitor economy, and advanced manufacturing.

Unlocking our region's unlimited potential

Earlier this year, BDA Chair Jennifer Westacott AO gave a keynote speech at the Airport City Summit, highlighting the significant progress and momentum Bradfield City Centre has made as we count down the days until Western Sydney International Airport opens in 2026.

A key focus of the presentation was the unlimited potential of Western Sydney, with the once in a generation opportunity to invest in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis one not to be missed.
